Two injured in South Seattle shooting

SEATTLE — Two Gang Unit detectives with the Seattle Police Department are investigating after two men were injured by gun fire Monday in the New Holly neighborhood.

Police said they were told by a 911 caller around 11 p.m. that two victims were injured at Rainier Avenue South and South Rose Street.

"Police arrived and found the three victims and their vehicle. One man had a grazing gunshot wound to his neck, another had gunshot injuries to his head and shoulder, and a third man was uninjured," Seattle police said in a blotter post.

The victims told police they were driving south at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Othello Street when a suspect in another vehicle began shooting at them.

They fled and stopped at Rainier Avenue and Rose Street, where they called police.

The man with head injuries was transported by medics to Harborview Medical Center in non-life-threatening condtion and the second injured man was treated at the scene, police said.

Seattle police said they found a gun in the victims' car and turned the case over to detectives with the Gang Unit for investigation.
