Two hikers rescued near Glacier Peak

Two hikers were rescued by helicopter in separate cases near Glacier Peak by a team with Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

Glacier Peak is located in Snohomish County and has an elevation of 10,541 feet.

Officials said a male hiker was rescued around 7:45 p.m. Thursday after he suffered an ankle injury about 5,400 feet up.

A female hiker was rescued around 3 p.m. Sunday after officials said she suffered a head injury about 6,400 feet up.

Both hikers were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

In a news release, officials did not provide an update on either hiker's condition.

The rescues marked the 25th and 26th missions performed by Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington this year, officials said.
