SEATTLE — Seattle’s Pike Place Market celebrated the beginning of spring by handing out free, fresh-cut daffodils on Wednesday.
The event was rescheduled this year to give the daffodils more sunshine and warmer weather to bloom, event organizers said.
Wednesday marked the 22nd annual Daffodil Day. Volunteers spread throughout downtown Seattle and handed out single daffodils at 13 locations from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All of the more than 8,000 flowers were locally grown by Pike Place Market farmers.
“Look for our Pike Place Market ambassadors at various central downtown Seattle locations. Take a free daffodil and brighten up your day,” organizers said.
