Teen taken into custody after SWAT standoff in Bellevue

A SWAT standoff came to a peaceful ending in Bellevue on Sunday with a 17-year-old now in custody. The standoff occurred at a house near Northeast Eighth Street and 164th Avenue.

Around noon, Bellevue police say they got a call about two people, one being the 17-year-old, inside a car parked outside a home here.

Police showed up and the pair went inside the home and refused to come out.

Officers say one person, who police believe lives at the home, eventually did come out but the 17-year-old stayed inside.

Bellevue police say that teen is wanted not only for a recent assault but also for second-degree rape and second-degree robbery, on top of a parole violation.

Police were preparing to get a search warrant to get inside the home and arrest the teen, but police were able to reach him on the phone, and then he voluntarily came outside.

No officers were hurt, and the suspect was taken into custody peacefully.

The road, which was blocked off earlier, has since reopened.
