Suspects involved in multicity chase ending in floodwaters facing multiple charges

KING COUNTY, Wash. — Two suspects involved in a multicity chase that ended in floodwaters Wednesday in Fall City had their first court appearance and are facing multiple charges.

Police said the chaos started in Issaquah when police spotted a stolen vehicle with two men inside.

When officers tried to pull the men over, they sped off and were stopped at the intersection of Southeast 37th Street and 150th Avenue Southeast in Bellevue, when police struck the front driver’s side tire, breaking a wheel of the stolen car.

Police said the suspect on the passenger’s side fled but was arrested in the parking lot of a gas station.

According to probable cause documents, he had a warrant for his arrest issued from the Idaho State Police for trafficking heroin and battery.

The driver of the stolen vehicle also fled and carjacked a woman waiting at a nearby red light in a red SUV.

During the carjacking, an officer struggled with the suspect.

Video captured the sergeant trapped behind the opened vehicle door before the suspect sped off, throwing the officer to the ground.

While fleeing from law enforcement, the suspect then attempted to carjack another person who had their garage door open, but was unsuccessful and then jumped back into the red SUV, according to probable cause documents.

Documents also stated the suspect continued to flee from officers, even driving recklessly onto Interstate 90 until he drove down a flooded, dead-end road in Fall City, where he was taken into custody.

Both suspects are facing robbery and assault charges.
