Suspected burglar shot, killed in Pierce County, deputies say

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — A suspected burglar was shot and killed early Sunday in Pierce County, deputies said.

Authorities said the individual was shot in the 20700 block of 46th Avenue East in the Elk Plain area.

The homeowner’s son was awakened by sounds inside the home and confronted the person, authorities said. The man then shot and killed the suspect.

No one in the home was injured.

Deputies said they found a stool and a broken window that appeared to be where the person got in.

The suspected burglar has not been identified.
