Suspected DUI driver arrested after chase

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — A woman suspected of driving under the influence was arrested Sunday night after a chase on west state Route 16 in Gig Harbor, troopers said.

Officers performed a PIT maneuver, stopping the driver’s car after chasing her on SR 16, just west of 24th Street Northwest.

According to authorities, the driver left the scene but was caught.

The driver was not injured from the PIT maneuver, troopers said. However, she was taken to the hospital out of precaution.

The road was blocked but has since reopened.

Troopers did not say what led to the chase but are investigating.
