Police arrested Jeremy Staeheli, 32, in California in late December. Detectives with the King County Sheriff’s Office worked with law enforcement in Red Bluff to find the suspect who was arrested as he left a hotel room, detectives said.
According to court documents, Staeheli says he shot 34-year-old Brandt Stewart in self-defense.
Staeheli claimed Stewart was holding a knife on December 23rd.
Staeheli said he knew the victim from school, and they occasionally smoked meth together.
