15-year-old student arrested in Edmonds after bringing loaded gun to high school

A 15-year-old boy was arrested Thursday after he was in a classroom with a loaded handgun at Edmonds-Woodway High School, according to the Edmonds Police Department.

According to the Edmonds Police Department, a student told a teacher they had saw the gun. The teacher notified the principal and the principal called 911.

The 911 call was made at approximately 1:11 p.m. and officers responded to the scene within minutes.

At 1:31 p.m. officers entered the classroom, with 25 to 30 students, and removed the student and secured the weapon.

The gun was described as a .40 caliber handgun with a scratched off or altered serial number.

The 15-year-old was booked into the Denny Juvenile Detention Center on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm on school grounds, being a minor with a gun and having a gun with an altered serial number.

There were no reported injuries.
