BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol is searching for witnesses following a fatal hit-and-run collision in Bellingham.
Troopers responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on I-5 southbound at the Guide-Meridian -- milepost 256.
“The preliminary investigation shows the pedestrian was walking in the lane on the freeway when he was struck by an unknown vehicle and killed,” officials said in a news release.
Detectives with the State Patrol are seeking witnesses who may have information surrounding the collision.
“If you saw the pedestrian on the freeway or possibly know of any vehicles with unexplainable damage, you are urged to call or email Detective Kevin Nelson at (360) 654-1143 or kevin.nelson@wsp.wa.gov,” the State Patrol said.
