State Patrol arrests four DUI drivers with minors in the vehicles

The Washington State Patrol arrested four impaired drivers over the weekend for allegedly being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

All the drivers were found traveling with children under the age of 16 and could face additional charges of reckless endangerment for each occupant aged under 16.

Of the four arrests, three occurred in Pierce County and one in Thurston County.

When charges of reckless endangerment are possible, the Washington State Patrol contacts child protective services, regardless of the relation between the driver and the minors.

If you observe drivers showing signs of impairment, the WSP asks you to call 911.

Examples of impaired driving include:

  • Lane travel
  • Shoulder driving
  • Erratic braking
  • Erratic lane changes
  • Stopping short or beyond stop lanes
  • No headlights activated after dark
  • Excessive speed
  • Impeding traffic
  • Inconsistent speeds
