The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency has lifted the Stage 1 air quality burn ban for greater Pierce and Snohomish counties, effective 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The ban prohibited burning fires in fireplaces, on uncertified wood stoves and outdoors. Visible smoke from any device was also prohibited.
According to PSCAA, the areas under the burn ban saw high levels of wood smoke in wood burning areas on Saturday night, and levels were expected to remain high Sunday night. The air quality had the potential to become unhealthy for sensitive groups in those areas.
PSCAA expects windy conditions Wednesday night and Thursday, which will help with clearing and maintaining good air quality until Friday morning. Stagnant conditions are again expected Friday and through the weekend, when the group plans to reassess.
