ORLANDO, Fla. — Major League Soccer announced on Wednesday the league’s plan to restart the 2020 season in July.

The teams will be divided into six groups for the opening round of the tournament played without fans in attendance.

The tournament will feature daily matches, just like the World Cup.

Each team will play group stage matches. Sixteen teams will advance to the knockout round.

All of that builds to a tournament championship on August 11.

After the tournament, the regular season is set to continue as normal.

A drawing for the tournament is set for Thursday at noon.
