Sinkhole under Gig Harbor road causing emergency closure

GIG HARBOR, Wash. — The westbound lanes of a Gig Harbor road will be closed for a week starting Friday, June 17.

The closure of westbound Borgen Boulevard will come after the city declared an emergency due to a sinkhole under the road, according to Gig Harbor police.

Crews will excavate and make repairs during the closure of all westbound lanes of Borgen between Peacock Hill and Olympus Way.

The detour, as seen on the map below, will be in place Friday.

Nearby roads are for local access only.
