SEATTLE — A 25-year-old suspected shoplifter was arrested in SoDo on Wednesday after he returned to a store to find his keys, Seattle police said.
According to police, the man tried to wheel a shopping cart full of stolen items out of a home improvement store but fled when he saw officers outside.
Police said that, when the man got to his getaway car, he realized he had dropped his keys somewhere inside and returned to the store.
Police said an employee of the store had already retrieved the keys and handed them to police.
"When the suspect emerged from the store a short time later, police took him into custody," Seattle police wrote in a blotter post.
Police said the man had stolen over $1,500 worth of items from the store.
He was later booked into the King County Jail on investigation of felony theft.
