Shooting at stoplight ends with several people injured

TACOMA, Wash. — Three people are recovering after being shot inside a vehicle late Friday night in Tacoma.

The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. at a stop light in the 1300 block of South Commerce Street, police said.

According to a report and confirmed by a Tacoma police spokesperson, while fire medics were at another call at the Marriott hotel, they were approached by a vehicle with three of five people inside who had gunshot wounds.

The victims told police they were stopped at a stoplight when a vehicle pulled alongside them and opened fire, law enforcement said. They suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The victims were identified as a 15-year-old male, a 21-year-old man and 24-year-old woman.

No description of the shooter’s vehicle was provided.
