EVERETT, Wash. — Naval Station Everett and Marysville Navy Complex personnel are sheltering in place after a suspicious package was found at the north gate of the Everett base.
Naval Station Everett activated its emergency operations center at 8:15 a.m. in response. Navy emergency responders have set up a perimeter.
Navy explosive specialists were called to inspect the package and base personnel have been instructed to stay indoors until further notice.
Access to the base is restricted.
The Marysville Navy Complex also told personnel to shelter in place.
“Nearby locations react like this as a precautionary measure. These directions are intended for the personnel located on the facility,” Marysville police said in a tweet.
