RENTON, Wash. — Less than a week after the Seattle Seahawks announced they were no longer partnering with Papa John's Pizza, the team announced Wednesday a new multiyear partnership with Pizza Hut to become the official pizza sponsor of the team.

In February, Pizza Hut became the official pizza of the NFL, and the company's deal with the Seahawks is its first local NFL team partnership.

"The Seattle Seahawks have one of the most passionate and supportive fan bases in all of sports, and we are proud to partner with the team to bring our great pizza experiences to the 12s," said Zipporah Allen, chief marketing officer, Pizza Hut.

"Pizza Hut is an iconic brand with a strong, loyal customer base that puts the fans first in everything they do. We are extremely excited to welcome them to the Seahawks family," said Chuck Arnold, chief operating officer, Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks' move to drop their partnership with Papa John's Pizza came after the company's former chairman, John Schnatter, admitted to using a racial slur during a company phone call in May.

Schnatter resigned from Papa John's Pizza and also resigned from the University of Louisville board of trustees on July 11.
