Seattle police searching for suspect after 2 teens stabbed

SEATTLE — Nick Rogers is still processing the scene he witnessed shortly after leaving work on Wednesday. He saw two teenagers bleeding outside a light rail station in Seattle’s University District.

“One of them was completely in shock — the younger one,” says Rogers. “The older one was panicked; was praying. He was asking [me] to pray with him.”

Witnesses report a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man being stabbed multiple times. Rogers says one had a bleeding hand, while another had been stabbed twice in the side. He jumped into action.

“It was just kind of instinct,” says Rogers. “I knew that you’ve got to keep pressure on a wound. And I knew that I didn’t want him to lose consciousness. So, to just focus on those two things until the ambulance would arrive.”

He continued to keep pressure on those wounds until paramedics took the teens to Harborview Medical Center. As of Thursday evening, the 16-year-old is in stable condition. The 19-year-old is in critical condition in the ICU.

The suspect accused of stabbing the teenagers is still on the run. He was seen leaving the scene on a bike.

Rogers shares the chilling moment he made eye contact with the suspect.

“When he was walking away from the incident, he looked me in the eye, he wasn’t even sweating. He was like, sound and clear mind and was just violent,” says Rogers.

Seattle police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect to call 911.

Meanwhile, Rogers remains worried about the victim in critical condition.

“I hope he survived. I haven’t heard anything yet,” says Rogers. “For young people, it’s especially sad because they have a lot of life ahead of them. Who knows what amazing things they can do? It’s all thoughts and prayers going up, and hopefully, he is alive, in better condition.”
