Seattle police searching for knife-wielding robbery suspect

Seattle police are asking the public’s help to identify a man who robbed a grocery store using a large kitchen knife on Tuesday morning.

Around 5:20 a.m. on Tuesday, a man entered a grocery store in the 1400 block of East John Street and began to place items into a backpack and a large tote bag.

When employees confronted the man, he pulled out a large kitchen knife and threatened them.

An employee was able to wrestle away the knife from the man, but the man walked to a different aisle and grabbed a second knife.

Witnesses said the man held the knife above his head and walked toward the employees, who ran to get away from him.

The man then fled the store with the knife and stolen items.

The man was described as a Black male in his 20s, about 5 foot, 5 inches tall, with a thin build, clean-shaven and has short hair.

He was also wearing dark clothing, gray shoes with black soles and carrying a black backpack and a shopping tote.
