SEATTLE - Detectives with the Seattle Police Department are investigating an early morning stabbing in the University District.

Police said a woman called 911 around 4 a.m. to report she had just been stabbed by a man in the 4200 block of University Way Northeast

Arriving officers found the woman with a "superficial" wound to her arm and leg, police said.

"The victim said she had been in an argument with a man who later grabbed her. The victim said she then pepper sprayed the suspect who pulled out a knife and cut the woman in the arm and leg before fleeing," Seattle police said in a blotter post

The victim described the suspect as a black male who is 6 feet 5 inches tall and was wearing a black baseball hat with a gold "H" on it and a dark jacket.

K-9 units helped officers search the neighborhood, but they were unable to locate the suspect.

The victim was taken to the University of Washington Hospital, where she received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Seattle Police Department tip line at 206-233-5000.
