SEATTLE — After being closed for nearly a week due to poor air quality, Seattle park officials plan to reopen the city’s parks Friday morning.
Boat ramps, specialty gardens, athletic fields and golf courses will also reopen Friday.
Officials announced Thursday that air quality had improved over the last 24 hours, but advised that smoke continues to be a concern for children, seniors and those with health conditions.
The city closed the parks last week through the weekend due to the smoky air, and extended the closures earlier this week.
As of Thursday at 6 p.m. PDT, Seattle’s air-quality index was at 161 (unhealthy), according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
