Seattle fire holding training exercises at local parks

SEATTLE — If you see helicopters and what looks like a large emergency response from authorities at Golden Gardens and Carkeek parks Monday, don’t be concerned.

The Seattle Fire Department and other partner agencies are practicing transporting rescue and supply items to an isolated area using a helicopter.

During the exercise from 10 a.m. to noon, two helicopters will leave from Golden Gardens loaded with rescuers and supplies. They will then hover over the Model Airplane area of Carkeek Park and lower the crews and supplies to the ground.

The crews and supplies will then be picked up by the helicopters and taken back to Golden Gardens Park.

The parks will still be open for public use, but certain areas will be closed for the exercise.

Seattle Parks and Recreation, Seattle police and the King County and Snohomish County sheriff’s offices are partners in the exercises.
