SEATTLE - A Seattle fire ambulance was stolen downtown Friday morning while medics were on a call.

The ambulance was taken near Third Avenue and Pike Street about 1:50 a.m.

Medics had entered a building to handle the call, and when they returned 15 minutes later, the vehicle was missing.

Officers found the ambulance a mile away in the area of 2nd Avenue Extension South and South Jackson Street near the Police Museum in Pioneer Square about five minutes later.

It was running and unoccupied. Police said it did not appear that anything had been stolen.

The ambulance was processed for evidence and several fingerprints were taken for analysis.
