New search warrants have been served in California and Washington state in the investigation into the disappearance of college student Kristin Smart in 1996.
The California Polytechnic State University student vanished while returning from a party and had been seen with another student.
King County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Ryan Abbott told KIRO 7 that a search warrant was served in Kenmore at 7 a.m.
Two search warrants were served in San Luis Obispo County and another in Los Angeles County.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said it announced the search warrants because of the high-profile nature of the investigation to avoid the dissemination of information.
