5-year-old taken in Centralia found in Seattle area

CENTRALIA, Wash. — A 5-year-old, who was allegedly taken by her biological mother who did not have legal guardianship of her, has been found.

Centralia police said Marigny-Gauge Leveau and her mother, Mahalia Laveau, were found in the Seattle area.

There is no evidence to show the 5-year-old was harmed while she was missing, police said.

Mahalia Laveau reportedly has a history of child abandonment and suffers from several diagnosed mental illnesses, police said.

According to deputies, the court deemed Mahalia Laveau unfit to care for her daughter.

Mahalia Laveau was taken into custody and booked into the Lewis County Jail for investigation of first-degree custodial interference.
