Man rescued from bottom of Federal Way lake

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A 21-year-old man is fighting for his life after firefighters pulled him from the bottom of a lake Saturday in Federal Way.

Rescuers were called about 5:47 p.m. to Steel Lake for a possible drowning.

Officials said rescue swimmers pulled him out of the water after he had been submerged for about 20 minutes.

Lifesaving measures were performed and the man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

Rescuers said the man was with friends when he had jumped off the dock into the lake.

The incident is under investigation.
