Seahawks place franchise tag on Frank Clark

RENTON, Wash. — The Seattle Seahawks have used the franchise tag on defensive end Frank Clark, the team announced Monday.

Clark, 25, has recorded 38 sacks in 67 career games for the Seahawks (playoff statistics included).

The Franchise Tag allows the Seahawks to keep Frank Clark under contract next season and the two sides have until July 15 to reach a long-term contract. According to ESPN, the franchise tag is projected to be worth $17.128 million for defensive ends.

The Seahawks selected Clark in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of the University of Michigan.

In 2018, Clark finished sixth in the NFL with 14 sacks in 16 regular-season games and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week following his 2.5-sack, two forced-fumble performance in the Seahawks’ 27-3 win over the Raiders in London.

"He's such an exciting player in terms of his effort and his motor that we've always talked about," Seattle head coach Pete Carroll said last season via Seahawks.com.

The Seahawks finished last season with a 10-6 regular-season record before losing to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
