Report: More than 1.2 million gallons of trash collected from downtown Seattle streets in 2022

The Metropolitan Improvement District (MID) recently added new equipment and staff to address cleaning and sanitation needs in downtown Seattle.

MID, which is a program managed by the Downtown Seattle Association (DSA), is adding 12 new trikes, which Clean Team ambassadors use for getting around and carrying equipment, including pressure washers.

MID also hired 27 new Clean Team ambassadors in the last three months.

MID’s Clean Team collected more than 1.2 million gallons of trash from downtown sidewalks, alleys, and curb lines in 2022, according to DSA.

MID is comprised of 285 blocks in six downtown Seattle neighborhoods: Belltown, Denny Triangle, Pioneer Square, the retail core, waterfront, and West Edge.
