SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — The Snohomish County DUI and Target Zero Task force is conducting DUI emphasis patrols from 8 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday.
The following agencies are participating in the patrols: Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, Washington State Patrol, Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, Lynnwood police, Mountlake Terrace police, Everett police and Mill Creek police.
The emphasis patrols are part of the annual Night of a Thousand Stars that kicks off the holiday season. Night of a Thousand Stars is a nationwide event.
The "stars" are represented by officer and deputy badges patrolling the streets.
Officers and civilians who have dedicated time and resources to reach the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission's Target Zero plan will be honored at a kickoff ceremony for the patrols Friday.

Officials said the Washington State Mobile Impaired Driving Unit will be on hand to quickly process suspected drunken drivers.
"The MIDU is a self-contained 36 foot motorhome that has been retrofitted as a mobile DUI processing center and incident command post. When requested, the MIDU travels across the state in support of law enforcement efforts during DUI emphasis patrols," officials wrote in a news release.
