FERNDALE, Wash. — Police are searching for a 49-year-old man who is suspected of fatally shooting a Ferndale businessman on Thursday afternoon.
Officers were called at 12:04 p.m. to a business in the 6200 block of Portal Way for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a 58-year-old deceased man, later identified as Douglas Scoggins, who had been shot multiple times.
Scoggins was shot at his office.
Police said the man who shot Scoggins, identified as Todd D. Andersen, fled and is believed to be in a 2020 Silver Dodge Challenger rental with Oregon plate 553MJM.
An employee at the office told KIRO 7 that the two men knew each other and that Andersen worked for Scoggins for nearly 20 years.
KIRO 7 also found out that Andersen came to the office and was there for more than 10 minutes speaking with others inside while waiting for Scoggins to return.
The employee said Scoggins was loved in the community.
Andersen is said to be 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and weighs 220 pounds.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone who sees Andersen or the car is asked to call 911.
