Police searching for driver suspected of running over teen

TACOMA, Wash. — Police said they are searching for a driver suspected of running over a teenager early Saturday in Tacoma.

Officers were called after 1:30 a.m. to the 5900 block of Yakima Avenue near 59th Street after a reported confrontation between a man and three teenagers.

Police said the three teens told them they were walking down the street when a man in a purple PT Cruiser pulled up beside them and accused them of beating up his brother. The teens denied it was them.

The man reportedly got out of his car and a fight occurred, police said.

After the confrontation, the man returned to his car, ran over one of the teens and then fled, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man is described as white, bald and between the age of 50 and 60.
