Police searching for driver of stolen car who hit officer in parking lot, officials said

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. — Police are searching for the driver of a stolen car who hit a Bonney Lake police officer in a Fred Meyer parking lot, a press release said.

Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, a Bonney Lake officer saw a stolen Honda Civic in the parking lot of a Fred Meyer, located in the 20900 block of SR 410. The car was reported stolen Monday night in Tacoma.

When the officer approached the car, he radioed in that shots were fired and the driver of the car fled the scene. A witness reported that the officer was hit by the car, according to a press release.

A witness later called 911 to report that a man had left the car in her driveway.

Officers confirmed that it was the same stolen car seen in the Fred Meyer parking lot. Police searched the area but didn’t find the suspect.

The Pierce County Force Investigation Team is continuing to investigate.
