PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — The Puget Sound Auto Theft Task Force and several South Sound police agencies helped recover a stolen vintage Impala, along with several other stolen vehicles and two stolen handguns.
On the night of Aug. 30, a 2001 Ford F350 was stolen from the Best Western parking lot in Puyallup. Attached to the truck was an enclosed car trailer with a 1961 Chevrolet Impala inside.
The following day around 9 a.m., Milton police officers saw several people pushing the Impala down a dirt road in the 800 block of Fife Way.
When officers tried to approach the people, they fled in multiple vehicles. One of those vehicles, a stolen 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, crashed through a fence into a marshy area, and two people ran from the scene.
The Puget Sound Auto Theft Task Force and multiple law enforcement agencies arrived to help.
A police dog from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department was brought in to help track the suspects, and a man and woman were taken into custody.
A stolen 2003 Dodge Dakota was found high-centered off the road. The stolen Ford F350 and car trailer were found at a nearby apartment complex.
PSATT detectives later served a search warrant on the stolen Suburban and found two stolen handguns inside. One was stolen out of Bellevue and the other was stolen out of Federal Way.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Puyallup Police Department, Edgewood Police Department and Milton Police Department assisted in the case.
