Deputies: Man who offered to buy pre-teen underwear found with machete, hatchet, duct tape

A man who posted fliers offering to pay cash for teen girls' used underwear was arrested after he thought he was meeting a 14-year-old girl, deputies said.

After Darren Fredrick Jones was arrested, deputies said they found a handgun, machete, $2,300 cash, gunny sacks, a tarp, a hatchet, duct tape and a camera.

Jones was arrested last Wednesday after deputies said he posted notes at Tukwila bus stops wanting to pay cash for “used girls panties … preteen to early teen.” He allegedly offered $80-$100. Detectives posed as a 14-year-old girl and set up a meeting with Jones and said he discussed sexual activities.

Jones was booked for investigation of attempted commercial sex abuse of a minor and other suspected crimes. In a press release, the King County Sheriff's office described Jones as a "suspected pedophile" and said they "possibly prevent(ed) a murder."

Jones posted bond and was released on April 20. He does not appear to have a criminal history in Washington.
