KENT, Wash. — A man was taken into custody Monday after police said he set an unmarked police car on fire in Kent.
Investigators said at about 3 p.m., the man went to the Kent City Hall campus and the police department headquarters and set the car on fire.
No one was inside the car.
Investigators said a person and a Kent employee witnessed the incident and reported it.
“Their quick actions to report this allowed us to respond quickly and take the male into custody,” said Kent police Chief Rafael Padilla. “We are not aware of what the motivations are of this male, and our detectives are looking into that.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
