Police investigate shooting outside Applebee's in Renton

RENTON, Wash. — Officers with the Renton Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday outside an Applebee’s restaurant.

The Applebee's is located in the 300 block of South Grady Way – about 1.2 miles southwest of Liberty Park.

Police were called about 4 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls about a shooting in a retail parking lot on S. Grady Way.

When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the pavement next to his car, investigators said.

He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His condition is unknown.

Witnesses told police the shooter was standing next to the victim’s car when he fired multiple rounds into the car before fleeing on foot, authorities said. Witness also told police that two vehicles were seen fleeing the scene.

Police said the suspects in the shooting fled Northbound on I-405 in a black sedan with black tape covering the rear passenger wing window and a red truck.

It is unknown if the vehicles were associated with the suspects, police said.

Renton police described the suspects as "Hispanic males in their 20s."

Police said they are trying to determine what led up to the shooting but do not believe it was a random event.

Anyone who sees the suspects and/or the vehicles is asked to call 911.
