Police: Driver in stolen truck rams Jefferson County deputy during chase

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wash. — Three people were arrested after a police chase when a Jefferson County deputy’s patrol vehicle was rammed Sunday.

About 8:15 p.m., deputies were called to report that a black GMC had just been stolen from the Seven Cedars Casino. Deputies spotted the stolen GMC in Discovery Bay.

Deputies tried to stop the driver on Highway 104, but the suspect sped away. Deputies said a red Dodge Dart tried to cut off deputies during the chase.

The driver turned north on SR 19 and went into a ditch after missing the turn. The suspect then reversed and rammed a deputy’s vehicle before continuing on SR 19 again at a high rate of speed, police said.

Deputies ended the chase when it reached Port Townsend.  The stolen GMC was found abandoned near the Department of Social and Health Services building off Rainier Street.

A K-9 team from Kitsap County was called in and helped find the suspect, who was hiding in the wood line near the GMC.

During the investigation, deputies said they became aware of two more suspects in a red Dodge Dart who were with the suspect at the casino.

Deputies saw the Dart driving near the stolen GMC in Port Townsend and made a traffic stop. Two people were arrested for attempted vehicular assault, possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, attempt to elude a police vehicle, and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to deputies.

All three suspects were booked into the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Jail.
