Poke shop break-in leads to arrest in South Seattle burglaries

SEATTLE — A burglary at a Poke shop and stolen iPads led to the arrest of two men who may be involved in a series of South Seattle burglaries.

Seattle police were called to a Poke shop in the 5300 block of Rainier Avenue at 8 a.m. Tuesday by employees who arrived to find the front door had been pried open.

Surveillance video from the shop showed two men breaking into the building and then stealing several iPads as well as cash from the store registers.

Working with an employee, detectives tracked one of the iPads to a home less than a mile away from the restaurant.

Officers waiting outside the home took the suspects into custody as soon as the men came outside. Police say one of the men was carrying iPads that had been stolen from the restaurant.

The suspects, both 18 years old, were booked into the King County Jail on four counts of burglary.

Detectives said they believe the men are tied to a string of burglaries that have occurred in South Seattle since August 11.
