Pete Carroll co-hosts new podcast to help raise money for coronavirus relief

SEATTLE — Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is co-hosting a new podcast with Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr to help raise money for coronavirus relief

The first episode of the podcast, called “Flying Coach,” debuted Monday on “The Ringer NFL Show” and “The Ringer NBA Show” podcast feeds.

Bill Simmons, the founder and CEO of “The Ringer,” first announced the podcast on Sunday night’s episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast.” The podcast talks about coaching, leadership, mentors and more.

“They wanted to do this. They wanted to raise money. They wanted to raise awareness,” Simmons said.

For their involvement, Simmons said “The Ringer” has donated $100,000 to the Warriors Community Foundation and $100,000 to the Seahawks Charitable Foundation to benefit different COVID-19 related charities.

On the first episode, both coaches spoke about how they came up with the idea to do the podcast as a way to raise money, in which 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward COVID-19 relief.

They also spoke about their relationship, which dates back to 2014 when Carroll invited Kerr to visit Seahawks training camp, not long after Kerr was named the new head coach of the Warriors.

Carroll and Kerr said they plan to have on coaches from different sports in the coming episodes. Simmons said they will also discuss their draft processes during an episode later this week.
