A spokesman for firefighters said seven teenagers in all were at the park on smaller side trails when the tree fell, killing Olidinchuk. No other teens appeared badly hurt as they emerged from the woods covered in mud.
The girl was dead when paramedics arrived, and a tricky three hour recovery effort began deep in a heavily wooded area of the park.
The park remained closed into Friday night. It will tentatively reopen over the weekend.
