Deputies found the woman’s body on the side of the road when they arrived. The driver cooperated with deputies and there was no sign or alcohol or drugs being involved.

An initial investigation shows that the SUV was driving north on 7th Avenue E. As it drove over a hill, the driver saw what he thought was a trailer in the road. The driver swerved and tried to avoid hitting it, but there was a car headed toward him from the south.

The driver of the SUV and the other car stopped to help the victim before police arrived.

Police said the victim is a woman in her 40s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has blonde hair.

The sheriff’s office is working with the medical examiner to identify the victim.
