Pedestrian fatally hit on I-5 near Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — All lanes of northbound I-5 were closed just outside Mount Vernon after a pedestrian was hit and killed by vehicles.

It happened near Anderson Road South shortly after 2 a.m.

Washington State Patrol said that after the victim was initially struck, they were hit by several other vehicles.

It is not known why a pedestrian was on the freeway.

The northbound lanes reopened shortly before 7 a.m.
