Passing cars hit by large pieces of concrete in South Seattle

SEATTLE — Seattle police are investigating what they say are suspicious circumstances after several drivers reported that their cars’ windshields were broken by large pieces of concrete.

Police were called to South Nevada Street and East Marginal Way South at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an injury.

Officers found three drivers who all said they were driving south on the ramp from SR 99 to East Marginal Way South in the Industrial District of South Seattle when their windshields were hit with chunks of concrete.

All of the drivers were able to pull over and stop safely. One of the drivers said she was hit in the face with glass from her damaged windshield and later sought treatment at a hospital.

Two of the damaged cars were towed from the scene.

Officers searched SR 99 in both directions between South Nevada Street and South Dearborn Street, but nothing was found.

Officers said they found chunks of concrete of a similar size near a building on Port of Seattle property, which they collected and removed from the area.  Port of Seattle police were also notified and helped with search the area, but no suspects were found.
