A Seattle Municipal Court judge sentenced Cole Kelley to a suspended jail sentence. He was also fined $250.
Kelley’s drone recording device captured video of it crashing into the Space Needle while pyrotechnicians were prepping for the annual fireworks display in 2016.
The drone was turned over to Seattle police, who then alerted the Federal Aviation Administration about the crash.
There was no damage done to the Space Needle when the drone crashed, a spokesperson for the iconic landmark said.
