Paddleboarder who drowned in Spanaway Lake on Thursday identified

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — The paddleboarder who died after going underwater in Spanaway Lake on Thursday has been identified.

The Pierce County medical examiner identified 53-year-old Ronald Wiseman, of Puyallup, as the victim and said he died from accidental causes due to drowning.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, people who live in condominiums in the area called 911 after seeing Wiseman struggling in the water after falling off the board.

Pierce County deputies pulled Wiseman out of the water and gave him CPR.

He was taken to St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, where he died.
