1 dead, 2 hospitalized after single car crash into Fall City creek

The King County Sheriff's Office said one man is dead, two others hospitalized after a single car crash Sunday night in Fall City.

Deputies said the driver, who was heading south on West Snoqualmie River Road SE near 24th Street, hit a guardrail and went airborne before the car landed upside down in Patterson Creek just after 9 p.m.

Investigators say two passengers were able to make it out of the car themselves but the driver, who was partially trapped, had to be pulled out of the partly submerged car by firefighters and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The two passengers suffered hypothermia but are expected to be OK, according to deputies, who said the car landed in about 2 feet water.

Investigators don’t believe the man who died drowned. He likely died from a head wound, according to deputies.

An exact cause of death will be determined by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. The ME’s office will also release his identity.

Deputies said the investigation initially showed speed as a likely factor in the crash.
