2 suspects arrested in murder of teen whose body was found in Green River

Two men, suspected in the murder of a 16-year-old boy last month, were arrested this week, deputies said.

Juan Carlos Con Guzman's body was found Sept. 10 in the Green River near the 12700 block of Southeast Green Valley Road near Auburn.

Newly released court documents state the teen was beaten with a bat, hacked with a machete and "partially dismembered" before being dumped in the river.

On Tuesday, investigators arrested a 20-year-old Federal Way man, Carlos Iraheta-Vega, without incident. Prosecutors said a judge found probable cause for a second-degree murder charge and set bail at $2 million.

Then on Wednesday, detectives received information that the second suspect, a 28-year-old man from Federal Way, was in the Federal Way area.

Officers located him in the WinCo Foods parking lot in the 100 block of Southwest Campus Drive.

Chopper 7 flew over the scene.

"The TAC-30 SWAT team deployed two distraction devices and attempted to take the suspect into custody," said King County Sgt. Ryan Abbott.

Deputies chased the suspect as he fled down an embankment.

Abbott said the suspect appeared cooperative as he put his hands up and dropped to his knees but the suspect retrieved his hand gun from his waist band.

"At that time one of the SWAT officers fired one round. The suspect threw the gun to the ground," said Abbott. "He was not struck."

Sources identified the second suspect as 28-year-old Rudy Osvaldo Garcia-Hernandez, who has been booked into jail on suspicion of murder. He's expected to make his first court appearance Thursday.

Neither suspect has been formally charged.

Guzman's father, Juan Carlos Conchequin, came to the scene wearing a sweatshirt with his son's picture – relieved his son's murder finally appears to be solved.

"I'm really, really happy," said Conchequin.

Guzman's murder left classmates at Mount Rainer High School in Des Moines in shock. Investigators have not released a motive in the teen's murder.

Court documents state a third man was present during the teen's killing last month, however, deputies said there are no outstanding suspects.
