• Museum of Flight exhibit highlights importance of Apollo 11 mission

    SEATTLE - Do you remember where you were 50 years ago? 

    Saturday marks the 50th anniversary since the Apollo 11 mission that saw three astronauts -- Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins -- travel to where no man has gone before.

    What began as a challenge by President John F. Kennedy was kept alive by political rivalry and culminated in a new age of technology. 

    500 million people around the globe could scarcely believe what they were seeing, but at the time many believed there were bigger challenges on earth to spend those billions of dollars on. 

    And then, you visit the “Destination Moon, the Apollo 11 Mission” exhibit at the Museum of Flight and you’re reminded what a seemingly impossible task it was and the incredible impression it left on all of us.
