SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — A 53-year-old man died in a collision involving a dump truck on State Route 92 near Jordan Road in Granite Falls on Wednesday morning.
Washington State Patrol said the motorcycle rider was going east on the highway when he struck the back of a dump truck.
The motorcyclist, later identified by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office as Richard E. Choptij, was pronounced dead at the scene. His cause of death was due to blunt force injuries.
Troopers said the motorcyclist was going too fast for the conditions.
The crash caused an hourslong closure, and a detour was set up for drivers.
No one else was injured.
